The company was founded in 1984 by Jim Koch, Harry Rubin and Lorenzo Lamadrid in
Boston, Massachusetts, USA. In 1984, Jim Koch, first-born son continued the family’s passion
by brewing his first batch of beer in his kitchen. He used the original family recipe for Louis
Koch Lager. At the time when this was taking place, Koch was working at Boston Consulting
