Principal, Ms. Ruth Coronado, Academic Coordinator, faculty and staff, parents, guests,
and of course, young boys and girls, a pleasant morning to you all.
Look at these wonderful children. Arent they just so adorable? That even I, although not a
parent, feel that my heart is just bursting with pride and joy seeing them in their togas and
caps with big smiles on their faces. Why dont we all take a moment and offer these young
superstars what they deserve, a big round of applause. (Applause) Today marks a very
special occasion to you guys. I know how excited you are and how difficult it is to sit still
there for a long time. As such, Manang Carmela is going to keep this speech as simple and
hopefully, as entertaining as possible.
Im going to share with you a very short story about a mouse named Marty who wanted to
be astronaut. This story is called Marty and Mars by Wes Fessler.
Marty dreamed of spaceships since he was little. He wanted to be an astronaut and fly
among the stars in the universe. Marty wished to be the first mouse to ever land on Mars.
But when he told his friends about this, they just laugh at him and told him that he could
never go to Mars. They didnt believe that Marty could fly a spaceship. Marty was hurt to
see his friends make fun of him and he began to lose hope. He talked to his father and
asked him, Why didnt they believe me Papa? His father answered him, They dont
understand how big and amazing your dreams are son. But do not give up. Never give up.
You must BELIEVE with all your might. Dont let go of your dreams no matter what other
people may say. BELIEVE in what you do. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. Your heart can
make a difference that can make your dreams come true. These words gave Marty a greater
hope. He kept on moving forward. He studied really hard and eventually, he became an
astronaut. He designed a spaceship and with that ship, he was the first mouse to ever land
on Mars. As Marty planted his flag on the planet, he remembered what his father said.
When you want something, do not let other people discourage you. You have to trust
