Routers should be allowed in Dorm Rooms

ROUTERS IN DORM ROOMS 2
The University of Akron does not allow students to buy their own routers in order to put
in their dorm rooms. There are many students who have a big problem with this decision of the
university due to the fact that each dorm room only has one wired connection to the schools
internet. Also, some dorms do not a good access to the wireless network that the school provide
due to the thick brick walls and their positioning on the outer limits of the campus. Meaning that
a student can only have one device with a direct connection in the room or risk their other
devices losing connection constantly. In this age where multiple tablets, laptops, pc’s and gaming
systems that all connect to the internet this starts to become a problem for students.
Solution
I feel that the easiest way to improve this problem would be to allow students to have
routers of some kind in their dorm room. This would allow them the choice of having a wireless
connection or wired connection in their individual rooms depending on what type of devices they
