The Mission
The agency I am writing about is the Rose Brooks Center located in Kansas City,
Missouri. I met with the Director of Volunteers and Community Support, Joan Dougherty. The
mission of Rose Brooks center is to break the cycle of domestic violence so that individuals and
families can live free of abuse. The employees and volunteers at Rose Brooks envision a world
where violence in families is non-existent. To attain their mission, they offer a variety of
services at their center to help the victims they serve a life without violence. The initiatives of
their services were set up with the following ideas in mind: Keeping Families Safe, Creating a
Safer Community, and Ending the Cycle of Violence.
