Film Response #1: The Wizard of Oz
In the film The Wizard of Oz, there are many different scenes that play a huge role in
telling the viewers a story. In particular, the scenes with the music portray an image of the
characters and show what is happening. The song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” contributes to
what we know about Dorothy by showing how passionate she is to leave her hometown and see
the world. Dorothy wanted to leave her home due to no one listening to her and not having much
to do by living on a farm in the middle of nowhere. This film’s music has been a vital element in
telling different parts of the story. There are certain scenarios when the music can get more tense
as if the characters are in danger facing the witch. Then the music can change into being more
happy when things are going well in the story. The music has definitely played a large role in
