Case 18 Robin Hood
1. What is their mission? What should it be?
The mission was to live free and not be under the rule of the sheriff. They
did this by living and hiding in the forest. Their numbers grew from men
who had grievances and a deep sense of justice. They robbed from the rich
people traveling through the forest, which they would share their bounties
with their closet allies the poor (farmers and townspeople). Robin‘s band
was growing too large and revenues were hard to find since the rich
travelers were taking the longer route around the forest. Robin’s new vision
was to stop the outright confiscation of goods and start a fixed transit tax.
Robins mission started out on the right track but waited too long to change
his mission. Robin should have went on the offensive and started to attack
the sheriff to weaken his opposition, but as he waited the sheriff grew strong
using his political connections to gain reinforcements. Robin and his merry
men struggled to survive due to their large numbers and not enough
