In the Massachusetts race for governor, the republican candidate, Charlie Baker,
and the democratic candidate, Martha Coakley, squared off in an intense battle for the
throne. Though many people would like to think that a candidate wins based on their
position of the issues, this is barely ever the case. In order to win elections, the voters
consider more than just these issues; it is a meticulous game plan that incorporates the
use of rhetorical devices to persuade people to vote for a candidate based on everything
