There were 3 renaissances in the medieval era one of these in fact was the Carolingian
Renaissance. This renaissance was in fact the first of the three medieval renaissances. It occurred
from the eight to the ninth century and took its inspiration from the Christian roman empire of
the fourth century. This renaissance just like many others was a revival or classical learning and
culture. This renaissance corresponded with the era of Charlemagne, who was a Frankish
emperor from 768-814 and the Carolingian dynasty which was his successors. During this period
Charlemagne sought a generalized reform of the church.
To do this Charlemagne recruited an English monk named Alcuin of York. With his help
Charlemagne then started the reform. In order to do this reform, they began moral and
intellectual school of clergy men. Charlemagne who did not approve of the written
communication made clergy men master latin syntax and style, then told the clergy to then teach
it to all who were able to learn.
