Rex Walls: The Epitome of Literary Conflict
In The Glass Castle, a memoir by Jeannette Walls, there is a plethora of conflicts
presented to each and every character in the story. One character in particular that seems to be in
conflicts more than not is Jeannette’s father, Rex Walls. Throughout the story, he consistently
ends up in unfortunate situations regarding himself alone as well as many other characters
presented. He exhibits just about every type literary conflict, whether it is person versus society,
person versus nature, person versus self, or person vs person.
Rex Walls regularly experiences the conflict of person versus nature. This conflict mainly
