Response of Two Poem of Joy Harjo
The poems I read found them interesting. She is explaining about a lot of things which
are related to her, nature or world. The first poem I have chosen for my response is “Desire”.
Poem desire look like she has written that poem for someone special who might had left her. In
this poem narrator is address with special person by saying that you have left me on a time when
I was trying to understand you fully. You left me and it just feel like my life is going away. She
is referring to “opium” and saying that we were enjoying our lives, we were together as soul but
you left me. I desire that you understand that if you love someone you should not just leave them
alone. She desires that special person understand that everything between them was real and love
