Remember the Titans “Diversity” Essay
Respect
It’s the only constant in human history. War. Whether it be for rights, race, religion or
freedom. In the movie Remember the Titans, the battles fought were for race. When Coach
Boone treks them out to the “hallowed ground” he shows them, the same fight. They will not
only learn to respect each other, but even start to like each other.
After fighting the same fight for hundreds of years, Coach Boone has an opportunity to
change a select few of young men and the useless prejudice on both sides. Boone takes the
players to the sacred grounds of Gettysburg and shows them what the men before them what they
fought for. And abruptly pointed out the plain and obvious fact of how it ended.
