She’s sleeping in her bed and is woken up at 11:42 pm to the sounds of voices screaming,
her mother crying, and her stepfathers’ hollering. She hears her name a few times and
wondering why her? Glasses are shattering as her 8 month old baby is also awoken by
sounds that is now wailing and crying. She hears footsteps the silence at her door. Child
Abuse. They’re different types of child abuse such as sexually, emotionally, physically, and
neglect. According to nationalchildrensalliance.org, an estimated 1,640 children sadly past
away and neglect in the U.S. That’s a future lawyer, doctor, or teacher who died. Advocacy
centers around the world served over 294,000 children and counting in the U.S. alone. Just
because we are more aware of what is happening to our children, doesn’t mean it has
gotten any better. Today parents and/or kidnappers abuse, torture, and murder their
children, sometimes for no reason. We need to prevent child abuse because it can create a
substance abuse, it’s fatal, and there are many ways it can be prevented.
To begin with, the child may create a substance abuse. Child abuse victims are most likely
to carry the abuse in their household when they become adults. Not only the child abuse
itself but becoming an alcoholic or drug addict. “Child Abuse victims often repeat the
violent acts that they experienced on their own children", says www.pcain.org. You may
think substance has nothing to do with child abuse but it’s one of the top five effects. A
survey called Monitoring the Future 2013: Teen Drug use is an annual survey which allows
8th, 10th, and also 12th graders to take a survey to see if they drink alcohol, smoke
cigarettes, and have had any contact with any other illicit drug use during their school
years. Between 1993 and 2013, numbers have risen dramatically and most Americans
would think they’re doing all this activity because they are teenagers but it’s because
they’re suffering anxiety, stress, and depression. Not everyone knows what’s going on in
one’s another household. It’s already bad enough that people are judgmental towards one
another and never knowing if everything in that person’s life is okay. Children attend
school with scars and bruises all over their body and most of them get bullied because of
that. Precious kids in the world shouldn’t have to live like this because they are what will
make a difference in the future.
