The author sets up the introduction by offering background information on air conditioning
compressor manufacturing. After the brief introduction the author is quick to state the
problem relating to this equipment, which is the leakages. It is in the introduction’s final
sentences that hint at where the research paper will lead, but it isn’t until the second
section—the method—that the goal of the research is actually introduced. The methods
begins by discussing the goal, which is the proposition of a new method to detect leakage
points in an improved and more accurate way. During the methods section, the author
discusses the experiment extensively. The author does a good job at explaining the ways in
which they will gather information and receive their data.
In the results section, the author uses images to make connections to the results. However,
this section is relatively short and doesn’t fully list the results of the testing. There is no
qualitative or quantitative data presented to the reader. There is no discussion section. In
the conclusion, the goal of the proposal is summarized. The author also summarizes the
results of the connected component labeling technique and blob analysis technique. He
connects the significance of this research to a real world application, stating that his
techniques will reduce costs and provide more accuracy.
