The peer-reviewed article [1] “Algae biofuels: versatility for the future of bioenergy”
discusses several feasible alternatives for fossil fuels with plant-based biofuels derived mainly
from algae. The abstract of the article [1] sets up a clear reason and importance for the need of
biofuels to suffice the world’s ever growing desire for energy consumption. The introduction
then expounds on the ideas presented which are: the rapidly increasing world population,
environmental effects and higher demand of the decreasing fossil fuels(p.346). After all of the
problems were presented, the introduction answers with renewable plant-based biofuels as an
alternative source of energy creating a nice segue to the rest of the article.
