The most modern and developed nations in the world are all facing some very harsh
realities as the world enters into a new millennium. Over a century of burning fossil fuels
and consuming massive amounts of the Earth’s natural resources, has left the planet in a
state of emergency. Global warming is becoming a terrifying reality. This has put the world
into a minor state of panic as the race begins to discover, develop, and implement new
ways of producing energy that are safer, cleaner, and less expensive for not only
consumers, but also producers. In the United Kingdom, one of the most developed and
advanced nations in the world, renewable energy as a technology is in its infancy. The
ability to harness the energy of the island nation’s natural resources in an economically
efficient way is just now being perfected. There’s just one problem, private companies are
telling the public that these new technologies are cripplingly expensive to setup and
implement when new research in the hands of the people and government is totally
contradictory. The United Kingdom is facing the same dilemma as many of the world’s
most modern nations. The technology is there and working and the prices have fallen
dramatically to the public. So what exactly is keeping this technology from being the
standard? Huge power companies, corrupt governments, and a defiant obsession with
profits has led Britain to this breaking point, where the only way to any improvement will
be the people taking issues into their own hands.
