Homecoming
From our Iraq rooftop watch we see stars, so bright it is like the sky is a canvas and an artist
has painted them up there with the fogginess of the milky way, and the purples in the celestial
bodies a backdrop. These are the things that make service members long for our home, wives,
sons, and daughters. As Corporal Bailey and I come from the rooftop, the stars fresh on our
minds as we descend back into the ugliness of the war.
