Quality is Truly Relative
Quality is defined as “the standard of something as measured against other things of a
similar kind; the degree of excellence of something.” The importance of quality is extremely
dependent upon the scenario. Roughly, the more risk involved the higher the mandated quality.
We can see evidence of this in the differences between the quality in medical equipment and
leisure equipment. Quality is a very important measure for ensuring brand equity. In order to
ensure that each product provides each customer with an identical experience it is crucial that the
quality of each service or product be kept within a predetermined range. In my own terms I
would define quality as the measure of value and integrity a finished product or service has in
comparison to all competitors or previous models.
In my experiences I have come to understand various things about quality. Some from
work experiences some from school and aot from Hobbies and interests. As quality is the
difference between two objects, it is completely relative. What is quality to one man depends on
the entirety of his prior experiences. This leads me to believe that, in business it is essential to
establish and define a pre-determined and agredapon measure of true quality. This measure is
still completely relative, but for the purpose of the business there is now a fixed point that allows
us to begin to establish a range of quality.
