Rejection of the Omnibus Law

The wave of demonstrations and rejection of the omnibus law occurred in several places.
They even gave a signal that 23 March 2020 a wave of demonstrations and rejection would be
even more massive and intense. They considered that the government had submitted a draft of the
Job Creation Bill which is now renamed to Job Creation containing 1028 pages which discussed
various things, from improving the investment ecosystem, employment, to social security, very
detrimental to the workers. Several articles in the draft bill have the potential to cause controversy.
Why is the government proposing the omnibus law, because the Government formulated
the Vision of a Forward Indonesia 2045 as a strategic step to make Indonesia the top 5 (five) world
economic powers by 2045. To make this happen, the government hopes for a “wave of investment”
to accelerate the development process. The reality in the field that there are overlaps and
disharmony of sectoral laws is the main obstacle to creating a friendly investment climate for
investors.
On that basis, deregulation and debureaucracy need to be carried out. Many laws and
regulations want to be trimmed, amended, even if necessary, create new norms that do not exist
