Regional Integration
The OECS is an international inter-governmental organization dedicated to economic
harmonization and integration, protection of human and legal rights, and the encouragement of
good governance among independent and non-independent countries in the Eastern Caribbean.
Two main objectives of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States are to promote
development by the formation of a common market among member states and to deal more
effectively with international bodies by forming a common foreign policy. Two similarities that
promote cooperation among the member countries of the OECS are that each country are small
and goods and services are easy to deliver between each other.
One reason difficulties may arise in uprising integration among OECS member countries
is unequal distribution of resources. This reason may cause difficulties because some countries
would receive more or less resources and consequences would be disastrous. It is likely people
see this as an unfair treatment for their country and other country because they would complain
that they have less while the other country has more or the other way around. This then would
allow more high demand of resources for themselves and may have an outburst of going to the
media and ruin or destroy the relationship with one another they build together.
Three strategies that OECS Heads of Government may use to educate citizens about the
benefits of cooperation among the countries are educating children, having annual events and

because it will aware the citizens about cooperation that takes place with other countries that
help them have the things for their own basic needs. Educating children through school/high
school allows them to get a better understanding of countries that cooperate with one another and
are able to pass on the message or information to their parents since it helps broaden their
knowledge. Then having annual events that gather people all around the area to come to the
place is like going to a fair whereas seeing things for the first time. The people in booths shares
information with people the importance of trade or regional integration. Finally, doing
