Reflective Essay
I have been a student at Middle Tennessee State University for less than a year, and over
the course of me being here I have grown and learned more than I can imagine. I transferred
from the University of Tennessee having already taken an English course, so when I heard from
my advisor that I was taking English 1020 here, I knew what I had ahead of myself. I have
learned here how to prepare myself for assignments, the importance of research, and most
importantly how to express myself through my writing.
Beginning this semester I was not sure how preparation would affect my work in this
course. Soon I found out that staying prepared is very necessary and that this course is nothing
like the previous college english course I had . It is so easy to procrastinate any kind of
homework but in this course you have little to no time to do that. With discussions and multiple
assignments due throughout the weeks, it was more simple to be prepared than to sit in class
having no clue what is going on. I remember going to class one time without my book and as
soon as I got to class I immediately felt like an outlier, ever since then I feel like I have learned
and taught myself so much about being prepared.
