Career Exposure Project (Job Shadowing)
Reflection
I had already decided to pursue my career in retail industry long before I took this course.
However, it is because the career exposure project that make me further understand and
adjust my fields of interest. Originally, I have took up a one-year part time job in
Burberry Foundation, a team which belongs to the Corporate Social Responsibility
Department. Being exposed to a high-end fashion brand, I am always interested to know
more about the duties and operation flows of some other departments, hence I deicded to
job-shadow the retail operation team in Burberry. As I have known the Retail Operation
Manager before in a company event, the process of contacting my host isn’t very difficult
to me. Although the process was relatively easy comparing to my classmates, I still learnt
that every time when you are emailing someone internally, you should always put both of
your line managers and any other parties involved in the CC list. It caused my a little
trouble as I forgot to communicate with the HR person in advance of my job shadowing,
I learned that any job-shadowing activities should adhere to the company’s HR policy,
luckily they approved my belated request. Thus in future, I should think twice about the
parties involved before I send out a business email.
On Marxx, I had my Career Exposure Day in Retail operation team. I have learned and
enjoyed a lot the whole day. The environment is very fast-paced, English is used as the
