From Paper to Classroom
I concentrated both my controversy analysis and my presentation on private prisons and
on how unethical they are. To be effective, I had to change the types of rhetorical strategies I
used so that I could persuade my audience to be on my side of the controversy. The audience
for my essay was the CEO of Vanguard, so the word choice I used when writing to him was
more professional than the way I spoke to the audience for my presentation. My audience for
the presentation were my classmates, thus I used a more relaxed tone and word choice. Due to
all of the work we have done with rhetoric throughout the semester, I understood the
importance of tailoring my rhetorical strategies to fit my audience so that I can be as effective
as possible. For the presentation, I chose the medium to be a Prezi. I think that it was very
fitting for my young audience. I think because Prezi is different than the standard PowerPoint, it
