Reflection on Career Orientation
On this career orientation themed “The Path to Take: A Guide to a Planned Future”, we have
tackled about how important to choose the right job. We tackled the things that affect our way of
thinking about job to get, what are the hindrances on the process of thinking of the right job and on how
to prevent them. Also, the speaker advises us that choosing the right job is very important for us to be
genuinely happy.
This career orientation made me realize and taught me many things. It helps me a lot in thinking
what is the best job for me; also it helps me to avoid role confusion that I’m facing. It made me realize
that personality is very important in choosing a right job because knowing our personality will help us to
understand ourselves better and it will help us in interacting with others. This activity also let me know
that there are test that can guide me in knowing myself more in terms of skills and personality, also in
choosing the right job.
Under personality, we have tackled about who are and what are the values that affect our
personality. I’ve learned there that personal values affects our peace of mind; family values does affect
the love and happiness; spiritual values affects the relationship with God; work values affect the power;
career values affect the growth; social and humanitarian values affect our service towards other; lastly
cultural values that affects the gratitude we’re feeling.
Chasing our dream is important. It will give us a huge satisfaction, not only for ourselves but also to
our parents who have seen us struggle to be at the place we wanted to be. We must always remember
that having faith on Him and believing in yourself is the best key to success. Move on… conquer… soar
high.
