Reflection Paper #1
Who am I? I am Colton Masterson. I was born in Richmond, Kentucky on January 14,
1997. My mother was about to start college but couldn’t because I was born and my father
worked for a factory. My parents are both from Breckinridge County. After, my sister and I was
born we moved back to Breckinridge County to live around family. Breckinridge County is a
very small populated county. There was only 172 students that graduated in my class, so
everybody knows everybody. When I was young I would watch baseball, basketball, NASCAR,
golf, and football with my father and my great uncle and his two sons, so I wanted to play these
sports and I fell in love with all sports, but mainly those. When I was in 7th grade I was invited
by the head coach of the high school basketball team to try out for the team. I made the junior
varsity team and the next year, my 8th grade year, I was on the varsity bench. Also, in 7th grade,
the head coach for the high school baseball team invited me to tryout. I ended up playing six
years of high school baseball and was a varsity starter for four years. Sports are and will be a big
part of my life forever. I worked hard to be part of the varsity team but if I hadn’t worked hard
outside of school and in the classroom none of this would be possible. Outside of the classroom I
started working my first job at the local ballpark at age 12. Now, I work at Taco Bell on the
weekends, during the summer I work at the ballpark still, and I help my great uncle with his
backhoe and rock hauling business whenever he needs help. Inside the classroom I worked
extremely hard to keep my grades up. I graduated from high school with a GPA of 3.81 and was

awarded a $1,000 scholarship from a local bank. My parents instilled the importance of honesty,
hard work, kindness, and the competitiveness to be the best I can be at everything I do.
Everybody has strengths and weaknesses. I’ve never had to think about my strengths and
my weaknesses until now but it will help me understand myself more by thinking about them and
knowing them. My main strengths are: I am open minded, I am responsible, I am determined,
