When reading the assigned reading I found many things interesting. Chapter 2 of the
Walt Disney textbook by Neal Gabler was entitled Go-getter. It described Walt Disney’s life
right after he came back from Paris as optimistic. He knew that he wanted something more in his
life and he was determined to achieve it right then and there. This chapter then went to describe
all of his ups and downs of Walt’s young life leading up to when he decided start a company of
his own but failed in Chapter 3 titled Wonderland. Wonderland was a comic animation inspired
of what is now known as Alice in Wonderland that ended up being bankrupt. He then moved to
California with big dreams and started up yet another company with friends and family helping
the Disney brothers with some money in order to start up the company and that is where it all
began. This is definitely an interesting read. Sometimes I like hearing the “truth” and knowing
different things that most people don’t know. Most people don’t know that Walt Disney’s family
were pioneers and they traveled throughout the Americas looking for a new start. What most
people know or think they know is that Walt Disney’s family was poor and that he moved to
California, started the Company and went from there. Just like that song by the Red Car New
Boys “A suitcase and a Dream” everyone assumes that he packed up his bags and left to start a
company not realizing that he already tried to start an animation company prior to and failed.
Walt Disney did have an interesting past, just like anyone would. What is admirable
