I think that everyone has heard the old statement “you can’t judge a book by its cover”
but let’s be honest most of us have or still do. Many times when we judge someone isn’t not like
we even really mean too. It is common for this to happen several times a day. I have judge many
people over my life time. It became even more noticeable the older I get.
I noticed that I judged people more often based on their appearance and the way they
acted from around middle school. It became more clear on these perceptions when I got older
because I did it more often without thinking because I knew what media and others would tell
me what I should think about a person or group of people.
I work in a large corporate office in the training department and we have to make
judgements daily. I feel bad because it is a requirement for many of us for the positions we hold.
We meet someone and have to figure them out quickly and a lot of times they are snap
judgements. Once we make these snap judgements I try and learn more about someone. I share
some of my personal stories with them and they share their views and hopes for where they want
to end up. It is really surprising sometimes how my judgements can be so wrong and other times
