Reflection 3
Before considering the asset-based model of community service, most would consider
Virginia to be an incompetent and very limited individual. Since she had never graduated from
high school and seemed to have no skills outside her family, Virginia seemed to need more than
help the community around her. Virginia was able to turn her situation into a great thing, and she
had a huge impact on her community. Being able to read Virginia‘s story and understand how she
used her abilities, which were limited at first, but which allowed her to grow and make a
