SANTOS, DREHFCIE ANNE RAE Critical Reflection Entry # 1
Every day, we are faced with challenges wherein we need to make decisions. By simply getting
up from bed, we choose to wake up and do our daily routines like brushing our teeth, washing
our faces, attending online classes, etc. There are critical moments in life too that require us to
make a life-altering decision that will determine the next step in our lives.
A few years ago, I suffered from depression. I lost sight of what I want to do with my life. It was
like I do not have any more reason or purpose to continue moving forward with whatever
installed for me in the future. I can never forget the day I almost took my life to end all the
emptiness I felt. I was a second away from stabbing myself when a picture of my parents’ smile
came through my mind. It was that split-second that made me questioned what I was about to do.
The doubt that fell on me after thinking about my parents saved my life. I decided to live and
find myself no matter how difficult it was because I cannot bear the idea of my family grieving
for a person who has not proved anything yet. My suicidal experience widened my perspectives.
I stopped trying to escape my inner and started to look for ways to fight them.
