The maine themes I found in the story of Jesus were; Love your neighbor as
yourself, the first will be last and the last will be first in the kingdom of God, and you
must give up your life to save your life. I consider these to be the main themes Jesus is
trying to teach us throughout the stories found in Luke, because these are the most
common themes of the parables of Jesus.
Jesus often discussed loving your neighbor and serving them. Jesus preached
about being kind and helpful to those around you. Jesus told some people to sell their
things and give money to the poor. Jesus told other people to serve those around them
and be honest in their work. Jesus said this was the only way to live into the better
grand narrative God has for you.
Jesus talked about how those who were first on earth would be last in the
kingdom of God, and those who were last on earth would be first in the kingdom of God.
This is to demonstrate that those who serve and put themselves last while here are
going to be rewarded in heaven.
Jesus also talked about how to save your life you have to be willing to lose your
life. This ties back into serving and helping those around you to live into a better more
grand narrative that God has for us.
I believe the apostles really took what Jesus said to heart, and tried to do their
best to follow Jesus’s preachings. The apostles would change how they ran everything
based on Jesus’s teachings, so as to live into the grand narrative God had for them. For
this reason many of the apostles lost their lives for the cause of Jesus, and spreading
the good news. The apostles even changed how the temple and church interacted with
the public.
