War Photographer
War Photographer is a documentary about a photojournalist named James Nachtwey. He is
devoted to documenting wars, conflicts and social issues. Through his pictures, other
people were able to see what they are not able to see that is really happening. It is also a
way to make other people become aware of it. His images are powerful because it can
target our emotional response directly. The way Nachtwey photographed his subjects was
by putting himself into their world. It is very dangerous to do such because there is risk of
death, disease or injury.
The most terrible image from Rwanda may be one in which neither killers nor victims
appear, but one whose frame is filled by a pile of machetes. It begins in the silence of
Kosovo with Mr. Natchtwey turning his camera on burning farmhouses, grieving families
and grave sites and follows him into the poorest sections of Jakarta, where homeless
families live beside railroad tracks, and to the West Bank city of Ramallah.
It is unfortunate to think that there are people experiencing this especially the homeless
families in Jakarta that live beside railroad tracks. I am privileged to be living in a house
and I am thankful for that but it is so sad that there are people who can’t even sleep
comfortably at night. But they shouldn’t just depend on the government to do help them
always. Nothing is impossible and even if there are problems that would come your way,
you can still beat them and be successful. Poverty will never become a hindrance to
success, if you want it. Be determined and work hard.
