Reaction Paper
In Alexander Hamilton’s article “federalist #15, Hamilton purpose behind this article is to
address the issues regarding the failures of the Articles of Confederation. Hamilton wants
to make the readers aware of the truth by using facts and arguments that were overlooked
during this time. In this article, Hamilton points out some issues that the United States was
facing, for example, the whole nation was facing humiliation, the defects in our federal
government, and the states not supporting the confederation. Hamilton states all of this so
he can get his point across without criticizing the Articles of Confederation directly.
The strength of this article is that Hamilton knew how to get through to his readers. He
makes himself very clear when stating his point of view, and makes sure that his listeners
are keeping up with him at all times. Because Hamilton knew what he was talking about
and had enough proof to back up his argument which made him so much more reliable to
those who were willing to listen and agree with him. Another Strength in this text is how
finishes off the Articles of Confederation by saying, “There are no troops, treasury, or
government”. Although this text had some really good points, there were also some
weaknesses. Hamilton made the readers feel like they couldn’t have a mind of their own.
