Avant garde is a music style of jazz that many people back in the 1950s and
1960s have not heard of till it became popular. This style of jazz music combines avant–
garde art music and composition with jazz. In the public eye, though, the avant-garde
tends to have a less enthusiastic response. Audiences will often shun performances
that are deemed too outrageous. While some of the music seems to be designed to
provoke a reaction, a lot of the avant-garde attitude is about questioning the norms of
