Raddish has been around for many years, two hundred years ago ninty percent of the US
population lived on farms and produced their own food to eat. But today only two percent of the
population produces food for the world to consume. It is cultivated all over India, especially near
the city markets. Radish originated probably in china. In India it seems to have been found from
the acient times. It was popular in the ancient Egyptian times. Varieties of radish are now
distributed around the world. But many people that study it arent avaliable to help determine
their early history and domestication. Radishes are brassicaceous crops grown for their swollen
tap roots which can be globular, tapering or cylindrical. The root skin colour ranges from white
through pink, purple, yellow, and green to black. But the flesh is usually white. Radishes are a
fast growing plant which is best in cool season. The seed germinates in three to four days in
moist conditions with soil tempratures between sixty five and eighty five farinhite. As a fast
gorwing plant, diseases are not generally a problem with radishes, but some insect pests can be
annoying. Radishes can be categorized into four main types according to the seasons when
they are grown and a variety of sharpes lenghts, colors, and sizes. such as red, pink, white,
gray black and even yellow radishes. They can grow longer than a parsnip.

The “April Cross” is a giant white radish.
“Bunny Tail” is an heirloom variety (home country is italy).
“Cherry Belle” is a bright red skinned round variety with a white interior.
“Champion” is round and red skinned like the “Cherry Belle”, but with slightly larger roots.
