Racism
In Ralph Ellison’s essay An Extravagance of Laughter, he touches many times on the
topic of racism. On his essay, he made it to New York City and he thought that he was going to
start a brand new life that was different from when he lived in the South. But for some reason
even though he physically out of the south, he felt restrained in some way (258). So one day he
