Question The Enlightenment — textbook/thought questions
As we continue to look at these sources (all of which are part of the period known as the
Enlightenment), it would be good for us to talk about the MAJOR EMPHASES of the various
thinkers and philosophers who were part of the movement. Using textbook information and
your own thoughts, identify one KEY emphasis and philosophical idea common to all
Enlightenment thinkers. Then after discussing this idea and what the various philosophers had to
say about it, talk about the importance of this idea in the modern world. How does this emphasis
help to shape our modern way of thinking and interacting with others? Why is it important? Etc.
