Introduction
Over the years, citizens worldwide are called upon to participate in the improvement of
healthcare. However, it is often unclear of how the practice can be actualized. Therefore, this
article is a-4-year ethnography of the healthcare improvement initiative by the UK. It indicated
that patients used various elements of organizational culture as their resources to enable them to
join forces with healthcare professionals. These four elements were the regulatory emphasis on
non-hierarchical, multidisciplinary coloration, commitment to fast action, permanent data
collection and reflection, and corporate staff ability to work following the desired respectful
behaviors.
