Abstract
This paper will explore and analyze the psychoanalytic theory as well as the psychosexual
development presented by Sigmund Freud. The psychoanalytic theory does not place blame on
the free will of the individual as observed in classical criminology; instead, this theory explores
the internal and external factors that contribute to the development of a psychopath. This paper
will distinguish the differences between psychopaths and sociopaths, the upbringing factors of
psychopathic behaviors, the implications of the psychosexual development and how it applies to
real life scenarios or cases, as well as how the psychoanalytic theory provides significant insight
on psychopathic behavior.
