Punic war and the destruction of Roman Republic
Rome became the most powerful empire after they have won several wars to conquer
lands and other empire. In the third and second century B.C.E., wars were set between Rome and
Carthage and call it Punic war.1 The three Punic wars took place over a century in which the
Romans are able to conquer all the lands and wealth of the Carthaginians.2 Romans fight war
after war until they established their superiority not only in their land but to the other lands that
they conquered. They are able to expand their wealth and lands but there are unexpected
consequences that brought Roman Republic to its fall. The objective of the paper is to show the
connection of the Punic war to the destruction of the Roman Republic. Evidence will explain the
causes that are related to the Punic war and Romans that led to its destruction during the first
