Being able to be part of my high school alumni was pretty exhilarating. A little information, I
came from a public school. Back in that time, my school used the system with the moving
class situation. The class is designed in certain way so students can walk in between class as a
form of break and a new atmosphere. But in my third year, the system was dismissed.
Throughout my entire last year of studying, sometimes I get frustrated with the materials to
face the national examination. It was partly as a caused that I get bored with the classroom.
Starting from the classroom design, the layout, and the atmosphere. It was unbearable. I can’t
focus in a longer time since if you’re got unlucky you sat in the back of the class and can’t
hear what the teacher was saying. Can you imagine being in the same room layout and seats
for the next eight hours?
It was very different with prior years. Well we ought to know that the public school class
have the same layouting and the hanged poster. But with the moving class system, at least
you can experience different kinds of feelings when you entered the room and also to race
with my friends to seat in the most front so that you can understand the materials better.
Based on the research conducted by Salford University, it is stated that layouts, construction
and class decoration has a sizeable impact in the students’ ability to read, write, and
computation.
There are three main factors; Professor Peter Barrett said that the individualization,
stimulation and also natural situation especially the latter plays the most important part in the
learning process. It can be caused from a good air circulation, lighting and also the
temperature. As a matter of fact, natural situation impacted for more than half of the learning
effects from the students.
