In today’s society there has been a major increase in the number of divorces, separations,
and abortions. Many parents find it easy to leave their children and become unfaithful. The
earliest years of life for children are their most important. It is the period in which they
grow, mature, and undergo many stages of development. Over the course of the past years,
family’s morals and attitudes have changed in our multi-cultural society. During the fourth
week of May, unbearable news about California’s governor was exposed. Arnold
Schwarzenegger was found to have a ten year old child that he hid from society and his
family. He had this child with a mistress who worked in Schwarzenegger house, and did
not speak about it till it was exposed a decade later. Yes, Schwarzenegger cheated on his
wife, Maria Shriver, and it caused them to divorce. However, the bigger question is did he
consider his children?
The article posted by Dr. Ana Nogales is mainly about Schwarzenegger having an affair
with a mistress and not thinking about the consequences of his behavior. Dr. Nogales
studies the affects of parent’s private sex life and how cheating affects children when they
find out. Schwarzenegger never imagined that his private matters would be exposed
because he hid them for one decade. He also did not imagine the affects it would have on
his ten year old child, who did not have a father by their side to provide nourishment. Dr.
Nogales provides a conclusion that his behavior has a major affect on his ten year old child
physically and mentally. In addition, Dr. Nogales is studying how fame, and power
supposedly make every action seem right. Schwarzenegger was one of the greatest actors
to star in action films, and was a powerful politician before he resigned and left office.
Does his fame overpower his actions? Does it normalize the actions that are considered
really wrong and absurd? No, because it still has the same effects on his children, which
fame cannot cover up.
The article provides answers that child development is a crucial part in life, unsecure
attachment scars children, and many parents forget they are the role models of their babies.
The article is very interesting; for is poses many questions about children and their
dynamics. Schwarzenegger’s story is an example of children feeling guilty for the divorce
