1. The Gestalt principle was created by Max Wertheimer. Choosing a class in Law, I would already have
perceived the class as difficult. However once in the class I will then realize that it is the same as the
other classes within my major that I have already taken. The three details that I know now are: I just
need to complete each assignment that is due each week. Once I complete each assignment I will then
receive a grade for the assignment and then receive the total grade at the end of the course. I will still
perceive the course as pertaining to law and that it is still hard.
2. Emotion: The speaker can use emotion to keep me interested in the topic. He could cry or show that
he is upset in another way. This would show that what he is talking about is important. Also he can use
words that show emotion.
Personal Significance: The speaker can tell stories that relate to the topic, but that also relate to me.
When a person tells stories that the other person can relate to, it is easier for that person to pay
attention. By telling person stories the speaker and the audience connect.
