My Virtual Child Assignment #3
1. A. How would you characterize your child’s personality? Would you say
that your child is primarily overcontrolled, undercontrolled, or resilient? Give
a well-documented explanation, with at least 3 specific examples from the
MyVirtualChild program that support your argument and illustrate the core
features of your child’s personality type (e.g., aggressive, emotional, etc.).
I would characterize my child’s personality as a cross between overcontrolled
and resilient – she seemed more overcontrolled at around age 3 and then
started showing more characteristics of being resilient towards her 6th
birthday. I had to take a parenting questionnaire provided by her
kindergarten teacher, and the results showed that I seemed to be a bit more
controlling and strict than average with Adelaide. This was a wake up call for
me in regards to my parenting style, and I made sure from this point
forward to not be too hard on her. Adelaide has seemed overcontrolled when
she did not want to leave my side when being dropped off at kindergarten,
and when she hid behind me at one point when a stranger was approaching.
Adelaide also seems to show mild anxiety in social situations, and she does
not rely on her own judgements. This has improved recently, however, as
