RECALL: Socrates belief that the soul continues to exist after death. The question that I’m trying to
make is whether there is an afterlife when we die? It’s disproving the claims of Near Death
Experiences by medical student and author, Raymond A Moody, Jr. The best explanations that can
be brought to the experiences besides the actual contact with the next world are influence of drugs,
oxygen deprivation, REM sleep, and Activity in the brain. The topic is there any credible evidence of
an afterlife? Whether reincarnation could actually be true? Psychics would be claiming to
communicate with the dead. That is Humes Argument against Miracles.
SUMMARIZE: .In the book it states that Socrates believed in the idea of an Immortal Soul. His
argument that the soul continues to exist even after death; therefore, there is no need to fear death.
He also considered the soul to be a separate part from the body. In the case of Near Death
Experiences, Raymond Moody, Jr. wrote the book Life after Life where he claimed to interview 50
people who had undergone near death experiences. The book recounted repeated instances of
people floating above their physical bodies in a near death experience, yet hearing everything being
said below, feelings of peace and euphoria, an urge to go towards the light. It means that there
