This job requires the employee to have at minimum a bachelor’s degree. Those who work
are expected to have exceptional typing and speaking skills. The outlook in Aerospace
Engineering is not very positive. In the year 2014-2024 it is expected to decline two
percent. In terms of engineering, the outlook is generally really good but Aerospace
Engineering is different. In 2014, the number of jobs was about 72 thousand but is
expected to decrease by 1600 from 2014-2024. Although the job opportunities are very
scarce, the pay is much better. Aerospace Engineers make about 105,000 a year. This is
higher than most engineers as the average is about 88,000. The highest wages are mainly
those who work for the federal government.
Aerospace engineers require special qualities. These include analytical skills, business
skills, critical thinking skills, math skills, problem solving skills and writing skills. Those
who want to become Aerospace Engineers usually take the Fundamentals of Engineering
and Professional Engineering Exams. Aerospace Engineers typically have 36-40 work
hours a week which means that projects can consist of many different engineers.
Aerospace engineers although they have these certain work times, they usually can still
find time to spend time with their families and live normal and pretty comfortable lives.
One day, an Aerospace Engineer can be working with a team to develop certain
aerodynamic vehicles or airplanes and another day, they can be working on a missile
system to protect the nation.
