Abstract
Proctor & Gamble (P&G) a premier retailer that has had maintained a sustainable
competitive advantage. P&G is has been able to maintain their sustainable competitive
advantage though the four criteria of sustainable competitive advance using valuable
capabilities, rare capabilities, costly-to-imitate capabilities, and nonsubstitutable
capabilities[ CITATION Hit01 \l 1033 ].

Proctor & Gamble (P&G) is a premier retailer that has maintained a sustainable
competitive advantage. Chief Executive Magazine wrote that P&G are the, “best overall
company for leadership development in its list of the “40 Best Companies for Leaders,”
in 2012. The 175 year old company also reports within its website that, “P&G ranked #44
out of 100 for “Most Sustainable Corporations in the World” by Corporate Knights Inc. in
2011.” How P&G has been able to maintain their sustainable competitive advantage
though the four criteria of sustainable competitive advance retrained from Strategic
Management book on table 3.4 will be reviewed within this paper. The criteria includes;
valuable capabilities, rare capabilities, costly-to-imitate capabilities, and nonsubstitutable
capabilities[ CITATION Hit01 \l 1033 ]. How P&G uses each and a little of its history
