In the world today, technology is the forerunner for many innovative concepts that lead to
societal and economic growth. Technology has been a part of our lives since the earlier
years of the internet. With that technology helps businesses move further and grow to leaps
and bounds. In such case technology has made the world of business much more effective
and live easier. Technology has given rise to information systems, management, document
management and much more. One area of focus in this paper is that of document
management. Document management is the use of a computer system and software to
store, manage and track electronic documents and electronic images of paper information
captured through the use of a document scanner (Rainer et al, 2013). Technology has made
this concept possible and has improved on this concept. This paper focuses on document
management and aims to discuss document management a Procter and Gamble, a leading
business with many business product lines that impact today’s consumers. This is a case
study analysis of the great organization touting billions in revenue and retaining millions
of consumers in a global market.
Some of today’s products and brands come from Procter and Gamble (P&G). Procter and
Gamble is a high level Fortune 500 company that provides consumer products in the areas
of pharmaceuticals, cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet supplies (Author, 2008). An
American multinational corporation its brands are sold in 180 countries and to 4.2 billion
of the 7 billion people in the world. The company was founded in 1837 by William Procter
and James Gamble in Cincinnati, Ohio. This organization mass produced many household
items such as pet food, cleaning agents, personal care product. The company uses a
business model known as open innovation, which accomplishes sustainability using
breakthrough innovation. Open innovation helps the company’s internal assets with
limitless knowledge. Open innovation is about combining your assets with the assets of the
world (Laudon et al, 2013). Combining the two drives shareholder value and consumer
satisfaction. The main focus here is to create an innovation hub for new ideas to flow in.
Innovation is the key to improving quality of life for people in every part of the world. It is
