Understanding Control Board
Instruments
The panel board in a process control room consists
of instruments to indicate, record, and control
process variables.
The usual variables are:
•Flow
•Temperature
•Pressure
•Liquid Level
•Analytical ( Composition )

The great variety in instrument manufacturers and
models makes the operating techs job that much
more difficult.
Every control room seems to contain at least some unique
instrumentation.
This is somewhat superficial in that the fundamental
components of instruments are the same.
Some of the instruments only indicate
or record the process variable
and have no control function whatsoever.
Other instruments, called controllers,
are the nerve center of the process unit.
The operators troubleshooting a
process problem should locate all of
the controllers on the panel board.
These controllers will
have the following features.
•SET POINT
