Pro-choice
For many years, millions of women around the world have gotten abortions. Abortion is
the procedure of initially terminating a pregnancy before the embryo or fetus is considered being
capable of independent life. It is legal for a woman to have an abortion in the United States of
America up until twenty four weeks of pregnancy, but according to the American Pregnancy
Association, “Late-term are not legal in most states in the U.S. except in cases in which the life
of the mother is in danger.” Women have gotten abortions for all different kinds of reasons. Each
woman has their own reason for their decision of having an abortion. Many women also struggle
with their decision and have a hard time moving on from it after the procedure has been done.
Although, some women’s decision to have an abortion are reasonable many people still do not
agree with it what so ever. People who disagree and think abortions should be illegal are many
times based on religious beliefs as well as considering abortion as murder and immoral.
Although, abortion has been legal in the United States since 1973, it has been a controversial
topic for many years. By making laws that prohibit abortions, it would go against human rights
and also the freedom of choice act. Humans should have the right to choose what to do with their
body. Abortion is something that has been argued for years and people either consider themselves
pro-life or pro-choice.
In ones opinion, I consider myself pro-choice. Being pro-choice means being supportive
of legalizing abortion although there are some things I do not agree on. There are many reasons
for this decision. Great deals of pregnancies are unplanned and many are also from women being
raped. According to Operation Rescue, “In the United states about half of all pregnancies are
unintended.” Also Operation Rescue says, “Of all unintended pregnancies, 4 in 10 are aborted.“

Girls are going through puberty at an earlier age now; therefore, many young girls are getting
pregnant. These are reasonable reasons to have an abortion. Girls that are as even young as 12
years old can and have gotten pregnant from rape or incest. Operation Rescue says, “Less than
1% of all abortions take place because of rape and/or incest.” Girls that have become pregnant
from incest are more likely to have complications with the baby and also the baby is at risk for
