American crime rate is higher and higher, so the government builds more and more
prisons in every states. U.S government figures out building prisons can’t solve the
criminal
problems. There have many drug sellers, murderers, and robbers in the society. Offenders
use
these illegal methods to earn money, and they may destroy many families’ or people’s lives.
People hate offenders, and think they such as dregs of society. In another view, have
people
thought that why they do those illegal, and destroy themselves’ life. I trust that people like
to
live with their family, and who like living under the fear. They do illegal work because
they
need money to continue their family, but society don’t let them do it. They need to receive
the
social punishment. In Chinese proverb ” give a man a fish and you feed him for a day;
teach a
man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime” It means knowledge is the best charity, the
government feeds homelessness, or offenders for a life rather than teaching them technical
skills to help them living in this society. Possible preventive measurement can be found in
teaching new skills in the prison.
Drug selling is a big deal in American, and drug affects the social safety. The data
from the article “Prison education and our will to punish” about, “while African American
comprise only 14~15 percent of the nation’s drug user, they account for 37 percent arrests,
