Executive Summary
This report is prepared to fulfill the requirement of the ‘Principles of Finance’ course. This
report attempts to analyze “Financial Analysis of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd.”.
The report shows the financial ups and downs of the Beximco Pharmaceuticals. Necessary data
and information is collected from secondary sources. Here I have tried to know what the
financial condition of Beximco Pharmaceuticals is.
The period I spent to make my report has helped me to gather lots of information about the ratio
analysis .I also learn lots of things related to financial analysis. I think this knowledge will help
me in my future course as well.
Chapter 1
Introduction
Background of the Study
The report was originated to make an analysis on the financial conditions of Beximco
Pharmaceuticals Limited (Beximco Pharma) for the fulfillment of the “Principles of Finance”
course of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) under Eastern University. The report was
prepared under the academic supervision of Sultana Shahida Abedin.
Financial analysis is the process of evaluating businesses, projects, budgets, and other finance-
related transactions to determine their performance and suitability. The main purpose of financial
analysis is to determine, forecast and evaluate the best of economic conditions and company’s
performance in the future.
Objectives of the study
Broad Objective:
To evaluate the financial performance analysis of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited over the last
five years.
Specific Objectives:
➢ To determine the liquidity condition that means the ability to pay short term obligation of
the Beximco Pharmaceuticals.
➢ To assess the leverage position that means the use of debt to finance its assets.
➢ To assess how effectively Beximco Pharmaceuticals is managing its assets.
➢ To analyze the profitability performance of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
➢ To give an overall recommendation based on financial performance analysis of Beximco
pharmaceuticals
Scope of the study
This report gives an overall idea about Beximco Pharmaceuticals. This report is mainly based on
the secondary data that I collected from Beximco Pharmaceutical website. The main focus of this
report is financial analysis. This will give a source full overview about Beximco Pharmaceuticals
operation and also give an idea about the Pharmaceutical industry of Bangladesh.
Limitations of the study
➢ All the comments made, conclusions reached and suggestions for possible improvement
provided are purely based on my level of understanding, knowledge and my way of
interpreting a particular statement.
➢ Because of the lack of information, I have to make some assumptions that may cause few
errors or personal mistakes in the report.
➢ Lack of expertise is also a limitation of our report.

Literature Review
Overview of the company
Beximco Pharmaceuticals:
The pharmaceuticals industry in Bangladesh has progressed well over the last three (03) decades
and the country is nearly self-sufficient in pharmaceuticals with 98% of its demand being met by
domestic manufacturers. Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Beximco Pharma) is a leading
manufacturer and exporter of medicines in Bangladesh. Incorporated in the late 70s, Beximco
Pharma began as a distributor, importing products from global MNCs like Bayer, Germany and
Upjohn, USA and selling them in the local market, which were later manufactured and distributed
under licensing arrangement. Since then, the journey continued, and today, Beximco Pharma is
one of the largest exporters of medicines in Bangladesh, winning National Export Trophy (Gold)
a record five times.
The company continues to adhere to the global standards and its manufacturing facilities have been
already certified by the regulatory authorities of USA, Europe, Australia, Canada, Latin America
and South Africa. Over the last three decades Beximco Pharma has grown from strength to strength
but the simple principle on which it was founded remains the same: producing high quality
generics and making them affordable. Ensuring access to quality medicines is the powerful
aspiration that motivates more than 3,800 employees of the company, and each of them is guided
by the same moral and social responsibilities the company values most.
We always strive to provide better access to quality and affordable medicines because we know
good health is priceless.
Chapter 3
Methodology
I have used secondary data to complete this report. I studied about the company and collect data
from the Beximco Pharmaceuticals annual report website from 2016 to 2020, Website of
Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, Books, journals and Dhaka stock exchange website.
I have used non-random sampling method for this report. I have used Microsoft Excel for the
ratio analysis to analyze financial performance of Beximco Pharmaceuticals. I have given
Introduction in chapter one, literature review in chapter two, Methodology in chapter three,
findings and analysis in chapter 4 and recommendation in chapter five.

Financial performance analysis is a subjective measure of how well a firm can use assets from its
primary mode of business and generate revenues. It is the process of measuring the results of a
firm’s policies and operations in monetary terms. Financial performance is also used as a general
measure of a firm’s overall financial health over a given period. Analysts and investors use
financial performance to compare similar firms across the same industry or to compare industries
or sectors in aggregate. Numbers taken from a company’s income statement, balance sheet, and
cash flow statement allow analysts to calculate several types of financial ratios for different kinds
